Mornington Peninsula Olive Competition information
Incorporated in 1998, the Mornington Peninsula Olive Association represents about 2/3 of the known Peninsula growers, more than half of known local productive orchard olive trees ( Estimated 50- 60,000 total olive trees).
Objective
It is the objective of the MPOA to provide networking, education, quality assurance and support for the olive industry within the Mornington Peninsula.
Membership
Membership of the MPOA is open to any persons with an interest in the development of an olive industry on the Mornington Peninsula.
Current Activities
The MPOA:
- meets four times per year
- is a sub branch of the Australian Olive Association
- has developed a regional appellation supported by the national code of conduct with the added proviso that the olive products were grown on the Mornington Peninsula,
- conducts the Annual Olive Festival
- conducts the Annual Olive Oil and Olive competition (inaugurated 2009)
- some members of the MPOA are being trained for the VOC olive sensory panel
