Maritime Cool Climate Olives

MPOA launched its Geographical Indicator Program in September 2009. This initiative aims to reassure the consumer that Olive Products bearing the MPOA GI logo are certified to have originated on the Mornington Peninsula and that Varietal Olive Oils satisfy the ultra premium extravirgin olive oil criteria (FFA<0.4%) at the time of processing.

1. The geographic boundaries of the Mornington Peninsula Shire will be used to determine the Geographic Indication
2. MPOA is launching its logo as a sign of origin of olives from the Mornington Peninsula region.
3. MPOA will monitor the market to ensure that where traders indicate that their olives are from the Mornington Peninsula region, they are in fact so sourced.
4. MPOA will take action under consumer protection/trade practices legislation against any trader who falsely indicates its olives are from the Mornington Peninsula.
5. Certain quality criteria have been met ( as specified from time to time)
